Meet Your Instructors
Chana is a purple belt in Brazilian jujitsu with years of experience on the mats. She built DefendHer’s self-defense program to be practical from day one: real techniques for real situations, taught with patience and zero intimidation. Her favorite student is the one who walks in saying “I’ve never done anything like this before.”
(732) 239-3112Yael is a mother of five, a U.S. Army veteran, and a USCCA-certified firearms safety instructor. She served in uniform, then spent close to 40 years working in medicine.
She teaches women how to handle firearms safely and defend themselves and their families. Classes are women-only, private or in small groups, so students can learn at their own pace without feeling rushed or judged.
Her view: if there's a gun in your home, you should know how to handle it, whether or not you care about guns. It's not about being a hobbyist. It's about being responsible for what's under your roof.
Yael draws on her military background, her years in clinical work, and the range of students she's taught. She's patient, she pays attention to where people come from, and she starts each person off wherever they actually are.
New to firearms or already experienced, you'll get a calm, respectful place to learn from someone who's done the work and takes it seriously.
